Escrow and transfer process
Every purchase from us follows the same steps. Your money goes to Escrow.com, not to us, and stays there until you confirm the name is yours.
- We agree the price in writing: the listed figure, or an offer we have accepted, plus any timing you need.
- We open the transaction on Escrow.com and email you the invitation. Both sides verify identity with Escrow.com.
- You pay Escrow.com. The money is held by them; it never reaches us before you confirm.
- We push the name to your account if you are at the same registrar, or send you the transfer code if you are not.
- You confirm to Escrow.com that you control the name.
- Escrow.com releases the money to us. Done.
Steps 4 and 5 take 24 hours on average once Escrow.com has the funds; some registrars take longer, and ICANN's 60-day lock after a change of registrant can delay moving the name again, not using it.
The Escrow.com fee is included in the listed price. Registrar transfer fees, where your registrar charges one, are the buyer's.
If the name does not reach your account, you get every dollar back: Escrow.com returns your payment and we cover its fee.
Names listed at $2,000 or more can also be bought over 12 months. Escrow.com keeps the name until the last payment. The buyer pays all Escrow.com fees for the plan, and they are already in the monthly figure shown on the listing. The Purchase Terms set out the details.
If you have not picked a name yet, start with the search. If you have, or if anything above is unclear, write to moc.qaten@selas.
