Meet Anwar Alshammari, owner of every name on Netaq

I’m an IT executive, and I have worked with domain names since 2002. Every name on Netaq is mine.

It started by chance. In 2002 I typed 7ob.com at random, and it forwarded me to tasjeel.com, an Arabic domain names forum run by Nasser AlWohaibi, known as Azooz. He introduced me to domain names, and I still think of him as my mentor: a man of real principle in this business.

Among the names I have sold: AtMeta.com, bought by Facebook (now Meta), and Mabrouk.com, Arabic for “congratulations”, bought as a wedding gift. Some of the others are listed below.

I buy names for their long-term potential and let go of the ones I don’t see fitting what buyers look for today. I believe a good, well-written domain name projects maturity and helps visitors trust a company sooner.

I have a BSc in Management Information Systems, and I have worked on everything from small systems to complex ones: ERPs, infrastructure, web and mobile apps, and the financial and commercial side around them. Outside work, I enjoy cars and play EA Sports FC.
